Must See Movies in 2008
There is nothing better than a good movie with either good dialogue or good action. I don’t have to necessarily get both in a movie - but I’m always in for good action. One movie that comes to mind with the best dialogue ever - Ethan Hawke’s movie “Before Sunset”. I saw this sequel movie before having seen the first movie, “After Sunset”. I’ve seen both but the dialogue is quite amazing in the sequel. This is an oldie but goodie.
I saw La Vie en Rose last night, and am now on an Edith Piaf kick. I wondered if she was the song in Before Sunset. After a little digging, and watching the last part of the movie again, I discovered that the song at the end of that movie is actually “Just in Time” from Nina Simone. I had to listen twice to what Julie Delpy said to figure it out, and a little bit of Google time. Nina Simone sings Just in Time and you can buy the song on iTunes - it’s on the Tomato Collection. Nina died in 2003.
Back to Edith Piaf - wow, this woman could sing. A French woman who died in 1963, I believe. She was quite the singer, and quite a terror at times on those around her. But what a voice. I picked up two of her CDs tonight at Borders. That’s the great thing about a good movie - sometimes you learn of a musical artist that takes you outside your typical realm of music.
Three other good movies to watch: Michael Clayton, Atonement and Lions for Lambs.
