InVitro (IVF) - A Fertility Journey
I have been on a fertility journey perhaps since the days I was able to have a child. I journaled about my desire to have a child one day, didn’t want to be an “old” grandmother (since mine died before I knew her), and looked forward to the day I could have children.
I married with strings attached, took birth control, got pregnant by mistake, and without thinking chose to terminate the day I found out. I regret that decision to this day, and have gone through a Church program at Vineyard called “Heart” to help deal with it. I have since moved on, if you will….
I left my husband (that’s another story I choose not to share online), and moved to Ohio State Buckeye territory in 1990 and began to date within the next year. I dated and had long term relationships, ten years, four years, two years - note the decline in number of years, eh?
Then I started my company and that created some issues - especially when things really took off and it corresponded with my “30’s”. I wanted children but didn’t want to rush a relationship for the “sake of having a child”, something I’ve witnessed in other friends or colleagues. My company grew and grew, and all I wanted was to have a child. So, I chose the fertility route without man, which means cryobanks, or yes, donor sperm. I’ve done this since 2004 and it’s been quite a journey.
I am now at the IVF stage. I will share my info in pages within this area for those of you whom are friends and wish to read or share your own thoughts. Thanks for those who truly support me on this desire and would never even think to question my evolutionary desire to have a child. I have more opinions on the topic than some, but do not challenge those who have as many as I do, or even more. Perhaps those that have more opinions on the matter - you probably are in my boat or worse. You have the right to voice your opionion as far as I’m concerned.
